Free Bone Density Screening
If you don't know your bone density or haven't had an osteoporosis screening in the past two years, undergo a free screening. Offered at the HealthWise House by appointment, the screening is a peripheral (finger) screening on a pDEXA and is designed to predict your risk for bone fracture. You'll receive a report you can take to your next doctor's appointment. Screenings held the first Thursday of every other month.

Join Martha Jefferson Chaplain Suzanne Hilton-Smith at one of the monthly small group sessions to learn how to plan for future medical care. Advanced care planning is recommended for every adult as part of routine healthcare. The sessions also offer help in filling out an Advance Directive, which is a written plan about your treatment choices. A volunteer insurance counselor through the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) will help you privately sort through and understand your long-term care, medigap and medical insurance options.

Advance Directives and other health-related documents may need to be notarized. For our members' convenience, we have a FREE Notary Public available to you at the HealthWise, located at 509 Locust Avenue.

HealthWise Parking Lot
HealthWise members attending a program may park in the exclusive HealthWise Parking Lot, located at the corner of Sycamore Street and Locust Avenue. The HealthWise House is a short distance from the lot at 509 Locust Avenue.
